Consuming Edibles Responsibly

Edibles are a different beast than flower or concentrates. Generally, edibles provide more of a longer-lasting body high. When eaten, marijuana is processed through the stomach, liver, bloodstream, and brain. The chemical reaction created in the liver is what causes significantly more potent psychoactive effects. For this reason, edibles are far more intense. The rule of thumb when it comes to edibles is: start low, go slow. While heavy users may be able to start with a 10mg dose, many more users should start with about 2.5mg, sometimes even lower depending on your liver function. Edibles are best consumed with food, to encourage quicker metabolization. Once you’ve consumed, give yourself time to feel the effects. Edibles are not for the impatient user, or if you’re looking for a quick high. You should have a good idea of how you’re body is reacting after an hour or two. From there, you can gauge how much more you can tolerate. It’s worth reiterating: start low, go slow.
