Reasons to Legalize

Currently Marijuana is completely illegal in 6 states. While politicians find plenty of reasons to keep it illegal, there are even more reasons to legalize (or at least decriminalize). The problem with keeping weed illegal is that people are literally getting sentenced to years in jail for smoking or eating a plant… Now how crazy is that?! Before today’s science and research making marijuana (like they did with alcohol) illegal made sense. No one knew what the long term side effects were and what they did know was that it altered ones state of mind, which as far as people understood, was dangerous.

Now that scientists understand marijuana and the short and long term effects of it’s use, it’s really safe to say it’s time to legalize. Some of the benefits of legalizing marijuana would be: fewer people in our already over populated prisons, economic boost from the tax on marijuana, people attaining their high safely (buying from a dispensary and not from someone off the street), and all the positive side effects of marijuana use.
